A different way to travel, beyond guided tours
There's more than one way to explore Italy by bike. On a guided tour you ride with a local guide and learn about the culture and history. On a self-guided tour you ride freely at your own pace, with detours and breaks whenever you like.
Both are special ways to experience the real Italy, but a self-guided tour has a charm of its own.

A long ride on your own strength brings a sense of achievement and a special kind of experience. The joy of moving at your own rhythm is what self-guided touring is all about.Source: Cycle Sports

How it differs from a guided tour

On a guided tour you ride with someone who knows the area inside out, so you learn about culture, history and hidden spots efficiently. On a self-guided tour you enjoy more freedom and a more private trip. Both have their appeal, and the right choice depends on your goals and travel style.
How a self-guided tour works
Cicloposse designs each route on quiet country roads with little traffic. Hotels are carefully chosen to be cyclist-friendly, with safe bike storage and e-bike charging. Your luggage is moved to the next hotel every day, so you ride light.
On the first day you meet our local staff in person for bike delivery, bike fitting and a route briefing.
Navigation without stress
Routes are preloaded in RideWithGPS, a cycling app, together with points of interest and daily information. It works offline and offers voice navigation. Route notes and maps are provided too.
Self-guided, but never on your own
During your trip, an emergency number connecting you to our local staff is always available. Our local team knows the roads, hotels and weather, and can help with anything from a mechanical issue or feeling unwell to simply wanting a later start in the morning.

Self-guided tours since 1995
Cicloposse has been running self-guided tours since 1995, and the very first ones were born right here in Tuscany. Our team are cyclists who live here, so we know which roads are a joy to ride.
